S.P. Flannery

Fertilization

Toxic spores
propel skyward,
we breathe these spheres,
they germinate inside
our sinuses. Plants, mutated,
grow stems out of
our nares, phototaxis,
the slow movement
unseen, their
flowers open up,
pollination, germination.
Through pores
enlarged by
sauna heat,
tendrils emerge
grasp objects and
anchor bodies,
suspended in air
a population becomes
manure for
the next evolution.
