Joel Solonche

The Mind at Night

Have you noticed, for example,
how at night the mind climbs
the fence into the apple orchard,
boldly, brazenly, vaulting the top,
how it does so without the smallest
sign of hesitation, doubt, or fear,
and without the slightest tremolo
in its voice, cries out aloud for

the world to hear, Mine, mine, mine!
